LIFE | Random Goings On #1

Tuesday, 7 June 2016

Hello to you beautiful LifeWithB reader, how are you today?

I quite literally am loving life at the moment. I am so calm and content with everything that is going on. I have a completely different appreciation and outlook of love then I did a few years ago. Everyday I see as a blank page and I need to fill it up with all the best things.

I have spent a lot of time recently seeing friends, as they are the main source of all my happiness. Going for dog walks, coffee and to the beach. Life is treating me pretty well.

I have been using all my spare minutes to absorb some vitamin D, I hope this lovely weather lasts, I feel like by the time I publish this post we will be hiding under umbrellas again, but I am ever the optimist.

My oldest friend Izzie came home for a few days recently, and we went out for dinner to celebrate her brothers 18th birthday. We have been friends since we were four, so it is always so nice to see her, I was a happy little bee.

Summer is all about spontaneous days isn't it?! I can't wait for this Summer, I am so excited for adventures and life long memories to be made.

I have also been thinking about doing my Monthly Scrapbook series again for August? Or maybe July? What do you guys think?

I love to treat this little space on the internet as a scrapbook / diary.
I created LifeWithB to document and capsule my life in Cornwall and love of lipsticks, so I love to post these lifestyle type posts to keep you all updated and I hope you enjoy it too!

I'm off to Bristol this week, and although I would love to promise a vlog, you and I both know that won't happen, so a blogpost will have to do (But I'll make it a good'un!)

I don't have many plans for Summer, hopefully go to some gigs, a festival, work end of season sale, watch the sunset, surround myself with my best friends and generally soak in the beauty of life and continue to talk to you about it.

What have you been upto recently?

Loadsa loving, see you soon,

B xoxo

MAC Lipstick Collection 2016

Sunday, 5 June 2016

Who doesn't love an updated Mac lipstick collection? Because I LOVE them.

Mac lipsticks are my all time favourite, I love their consistency and I always find that they last all day. I usually go for a satin or matte finish and prefer shades with pink in them (as you can probably see!)

I have a pale cool toned skin tone, and I always try on the lipsticks before I buy them so I know that they won't wash me out and make me look even more pale!

I will also include a picture of me wearing each of the colours so you get an idea of what they look like on ( I am quite ashamed of the amount of selfies I had at hand for this post- haha!!)

I'll start from left to right and any previous posts I have done on the shades I will link below.

Ruby Woo -
Retro matte finish blue toned red. This has a really matte finish, and because it has such an intense colour I use a lipliner first to create a clean outline and to stop it from smudging. This lipstick is perfect for a night out, with a smokey eye and black dress (channeling my inner Taylor Swift)

All Fired Up -
I LOVE this lipstick. This was the first one I brought because it is more of a fuchsia hot pink red. I find it goes so much better with my skin tone and wear it with thick eyeliner. It is the perfect colour for festivals or if you're feeling a bit more daring for everyday wear.

Creme In Your Coffee-
This is a beautiful nude cream sheen lipstick. I am not a massive fan of cream sheen, I think this is because my top lip is super pale without lipstick on so I like to cut out the lip line with a lipliner first. I use Spice lipliner with this lipstick and they work perfectly together.
It is a pinky shade nude and I wear this colour for work (Its actually almost run out!)

I love love love Brave!! It is a satin finish pink lipstick. I wear this the majority of the time because it is so versatile and I feel like it suits me the best. It warms my complexion and lasts all day ( I barely have to top it up at all - heaven )

Fanfare is a lovely coral-y pink lipstick. I brought this for summer because it has a yellow tone to it. This makes you look more tanned and makes me excited to wear it as the weather gets warmer. Because it is a cream sheen it is very glossy, so I am going to look at getting a lipliner to sit underneath it.

Surprise surprise, another satin finish!! I brought this one back in January, it is more of a Wintery / evening colour. It is a plum toned pink, and will be perfect for Autumn.

This is one of my all time favourite lipsticks, I love it, and it was donated to me from my friend Emily who doesn't like matte finish ( winning! ) It is a orange / brown toned red and it was perfect at Christmas.

Verve -
This is also a satin finish, brown / purple toned shade. I find it quite a cool lipstick shade, so I have worn it on a night out because it means you can dress it up a bit more and because it is quite dark.

I actually don't have any non black and white pictures of me wearing Chili or Verve (forever loving b&w filter!) but by the time I update you on my collection I will be sure to swatch the for you lovely ladies!!

Hope you liked this post! What is your favourite Mac Lipstick? Or tweet me your collection posts so I can add some more to my ever growing Mac wishlist.

I love ya loads, B xox

The Happiness Project

Friday, 3 June 2016

Hello beautifuls!!

I've had this post in my drafts for months, its a pretty big thing I've wanted to talk about so had to do a lot of thinking about it first.

I've posted before about the concept of 'Getting Happy' as it was my New Year's resolution last year and I finally felt like I could tick it off.

I'm not going to lie but life gave me a few lemons and over the space of a year I have learnt to make lemonade. Yes, it took a few attempts, of course I didn't get it right first time. But I think figured out a few tips to a happier life..

1- Cut out all the bad lemons.
Obviously you can't make a lemonade with rotten lemons. Nobody should be in your life who makes you sad, feel bad about yourself or bring general negativity. I cut out two of these and my life improved almost immediately. Don't give your precious time to these people, when there are incredible people out there who will improve and sweeten your life.

2- Once you've cut out the bad lemons, surround yourself with THE BEST PEOPLE EVER. Having good people around you is the best feeling ever. Make time for the people you love and value them. Friendship has been the most important thing to me. Because friends will be there to laugh with you until your whole body hurts and also pick you up when your down.

3- Laugh More.
Don't get too stressed or busy that life runs away from you, don't take life too seriously, laughter is the best medicine.

4- Worry less, live more.
Ok so I'm talking cheesy pasta. You want the cheesy pasta, eat it. Stop worrying about the calorie intake, take everything in moderation, but never no to something that will make you happy. Cheesy pasta always makes me happy.
Also, dance and sing ALOT. Dance in your bedroom as you get ready for work, sing at the top of your voice in the car. Sure, people will drive past with a concerned look on their face but SO WHAT, YOU'RE STILL A ROCKSTAR so on and so forth, you get the idea.

5- Love yourself, love the bones of yourself.
Incase no one told you recently, you are incredible, look at those legs that take you anywhere you like, those hands that sketch, write and create. Those eyes that see everything, ears that hear all your favourite songs and your mind that imagines, remembers and enjoys. Don't wait for someone to love all these things, you need to fall in love with you because you'll always be here for you, people can let you down. You can pick your own self up when you fall.

6- Don't give into pressure.
People are always going to assume you should be doing something else. Well let me tell you this for free, you will never be doing the right thing to someone, you cannot physically impress the world at once. We can't be expected to have our life together at all times, neither will we always know what to do or what's best. But guess what, thats fine. As long as you're happy and healthy, that pressure will go away. Life doesn't have a path we are all meant to follow, create your own path.

7- Appreciate everything.
Take a step back, isn't everything pretty amazing?
This has got to be the most important and key part of a happier life. Once you appreciate everything a little more, life automatically becomes a lot more enjoyable.

Ok for now these are my tips, I don't claim to have this whole life thing figured out but if I can help at least one of you thats all that matters.

I hope you are all having the best week, and I will see you soon!

Lots of love, B xoxo

Hello beautiful bloggers!

Can you believe its June!? I really can't, still feel like we're in March! So happy that the sun has come out though, and I have just had the best weekend ever!

If you follow me on twitter you may know that I managed to get tickets for Radio 1's Big Weekend in Exeter for the Saturday, which meant we would be seeing Jake Bugg, Jess Glynne and Chase & Status.

Me and Emily have been wanting to go to a Big Weekend for years, I remember lying in her bed before school trying to get tickets about 6 years ago, so I was so so excited to finally be able to go.

I am so in love with these photos so just couldn't help sharing them with you too, I wish I could relive this weekend it was amazing and I won't ever forget it!

My playsuit and raincoat are from Primark, flip flops are black Havianas and sunglasses are from H&M.

I was not ready for this picture, but you can see the details of the playsuit, I loved it!

Emily looking gorgeous! I'm not sure where her top is from, but her jeans are from Topshop, sunglasses are from Newlook and her coat aka my coat is from Newlook 3 years ago.
I'll leave her instagram link below if you want to follow her :)

My lipstick is All Fired Up and Emily's is Modesty (Both MAC)

Jake Bugg was amazing! Could have watched him all day, not to mention that he is beautiful and my crush on him went a bit crazy.

I don't want to ramble on and bombard you with photographs so I will round it up here.
I really did have one the best weekends ever, I am even rewatching Chase and Status' set as we speak!

I am in a really happy place at the moment and am going to publish a blog post soon on that and other goings on.

Thankyou all so much for reading!

Are you going to any festivals this year?

Love you all loads,

The Daily Face | Summer

Monday, 23 May 2016

Hello blogging bees!

How is everyone today? Thankyou for coming to my blog for a little beauty reading.

My daily face is pretty simple at the moment. I have scaled back the eyeshadow and loving having a much more simple makeup look, with lots of mascara and bronzer instead.

Ok, so first of all I start with a primer.
I have oily skin, so primer is a MUST to make sure your makeup isn't going anywhere. I use The Body Shop Tea Tree one because it is suitable for blemish prone skin.

I then use Collection Concealer in Fair because it is a pretty high coverage thick concealer it is perfect for concealing dark circles and any redness. I blend this in using a beauty blender.

For foundation, I use my all time favourite which is Revlon Colourstay for Oily/ Combination skin in shade Buff. I apply this using a foundation brush by Crown, or with a beauty blender. I love the finish of this foundation it is super high coverage and lasts all day.

To keep all of that in place I pop on some pressed powder with a beauty blender, I have brought and rebrought Rimmel Stay Matte powder for years, I LOVE it and its really good value for money.

To finish off my face I use Next's Shimmer Brick, I wrote a whole review on it HERE. I love it  and apply it to my cheekbones, my forehead / temples and jawline.
I then use Nars Orgasm blush because it has a gold shimmer so goes really well with the bronzer and is perfect for summer.

For brows I use the Rimmel Brow This Way palette, using an angled brush and creating an arch and filling them in (as you can see it has been well loved)

Keeping your eyes pretty simple it gives you extra time in bed in the morning (yes!) so I have just been layering up the mascara for super long lashes. I have gone back to using Maybellines Colossal mascara which is really good for building up lots of length and doesn't smudge.

Finally for makeup, I use Mac's Brave lipstick. Which is a satin dusty pink shade, it is perfect to wear everyday and I find it goes with everything. I actually need to buy a new one because I've nearly used all of this one up!

So that is it for my everyday makeup, it really is so simple at the moment and I am loving the extra time in the morning and this is my Daily Face, mwah!

What makeup are you loving at the moment?

Loadsa loving,

Dear ANXIETY | I'm Exhausted

Saturday, 21 May 2016

Hello everyone!

As you may already know, I talk about anxiety a lot on here, because I have it, and it is something I really struggle with. I know so many people are affected by it, so together we can talk about it, you don't need to be embarrassed. I wrote about it here in my #LetsTalkAnxiety post so you could always read about how it started for me, and trying to end the mental health stigma.

Gemma Corell, has been posting her illustrations under the hashtag #MENTALILLNESSFEELSLIKE and it got me thinking about how it makes me feel and personifying it. If you wanted to see her drawings, visit her Facebook page, and you can share the posts and feel free to write your own posts to explain how you feel.

Recently it has really taken its toll. It is something that is always on mind, so it was about time I addressed anxiety and told it exactly how it was making me feel, and that I have had enough.

Dear Anxiety.

You're still here and can I just say, you have overstayed your welcome.

You turned up uninvited to that party, on holiday, when I went out with the girls, whenever I am in a crowd of people, at a family meal and sometimes you like to make an appearance in the middle of the night

To be honest, I am exhausted.
You squeeze me so tight, absorbing my whole being.
Anxiety; everyone knows you to be, maybe feeling nervous, shaking, a pounding heart. But I know you to take over my entire life. You aren't just some butterflies, you are birds flapping their wings so strongly, making me so sick.

I am part of a huge tug of war 24/7, because you hate all the things I love. My mind is constantly fighting you to leave me alone, telling you I CAN DO IT. But then you always win because YOU CANT DO IT screams so much louder.

I am tired of saying 'I'll think about it' rather than Yes, a million times yes.

Unfortunately for you Anxiety, as much as you would like to stay, I cannot live with you anymore.

Beth x

I wish I could just hand Anxiety its eviction notice, or take some medicine like you would for a sore throat and it would be gone. This is something I am learning to cope with and get over, all I know for the time being is that I cannot carry on living with it like it is at the moment.

If you want to create your own post, feel free to tag me in it or use the #mentalillnessfeelslike I will share it and remember YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Thankyou for reading,

lots of love, B xxx

How are you today?

Recently I went to MAC and obviously couldn't resist adding a new lipstick to my collection. I wanted to get one perfect for Spring/ Summer, and one I could wear everyday.

I tried a couple on and loved Fanfare.
It is a Creamsheen lipstick, so has a glossy finish. My favourite finish is Satin, so to wear Creamsheen I like to pop a lip liner underneath to intensify the colour and give it a good base to sit on.

This shade is currently sold out on Mac's official website, probably because it is the perfect colour for Spring. It is a soft rosy pink shade, with a hint of coral.

I have a pale cool skin tone and this really warms it up, it would pair really well with a rose gold eyeshadow and Nars Orgasm blush - which has a gold shimmer to it.

My other favourite everyday lipstick is Brave by Mac which is more of a dusty pink, because that is has a Satin finish I find it lasts a lot longer than Creamsheen. But applying it with a brush or on top of a lipliner it lasts so much longer than it would without a base, because it is so glossy.

Here it is on ^ I wore it with, Revlon Colourstay foundation in Buff,
Collection Concealer in Fair,
Rimmel Stay Matte powder in Translucent,
Rimmel Brow This Way brow palette in Medium Brown,
Nars Blush in Orgasm,
with lots of Rimmel Colossal Mascara.

Which is your favourite lipstick for Spring / Summer?

Thankyou for reading and see you very soon!

Lots of love, B xxx

My Little Box • May

Saturday, 14 May 2016

Ciao Bella!

This month's My Little Box is Italian themed, Dolce Vita means a life of heedless pleasure and luxury. And this box certainly contains a little bit of luxury!

I love receiving these boxes because they are such a treat because they contain little beauty bits that you would never would have brought before (because they are super expensive) and they are always so lovely!

I was so surprised to find this tiny little box which contained a beautiful little ring (worth £12 - the box is £11!!) I never really buy jewellery but I love this, and it will be nice to wear in the Summer.

I am like a child at Christmas when I open up this box and delve straight into the beauty drawstring bag, where there is always three delicate items inside.

In this month's box was Baïja Body Oil which is fragranced with Green Tea and Jamine - it smells amazing. I love to apply body oil after getting out the bath, I have quite dry skin so this really helps to moisturise it and it leaves it feeling instantly nourished.
A 50ml bottle of this Body Oil is worth 16,90¢ (My Little Box is a french company so all the pricing is in Euros.)

Also inside was a tester size bottle of perfume called La Fille De L'Air, it is a beautiful feminine fragrance, perfect for Summer, with scents of Orange and Neroli. It smells very fresh and improves as it sits on your skin, I have it on now, and I am loving it! The perfume retails at about £70, so it is a joy to be able to test this out and I will be popping it in my handbag to apply it throughout the day.

My Little Box always contains one of their own beauty items made by My Little Beauty. This month is a little tube of gradual tan, to get our legs up to speed in the tanning game ready for Summer. It smells amazing, I am yet to try it on my legs, fake tan never goes well for me, but I am hoping this one will just add a little natural colour. I have never been disappointed by My Little Beauty and partially love their brightening moisturiser and hand cream.

Lastly in this months Dolce Vita box is a beautiful floral headband, perfect to hide any bad hair day!

I love this box and have been subscribed to it since October, feel free to go and read my reviews for each box I have received.

If you wanted more information on the monthly subscription box, then visit their website here <<

Do you receive any monthly subscription boxes?

Thankyou for reading,

lots of love,

B xxx
